Election 2027: ‘We’re Not Jittery; We’ve Got The Numbers’ — APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that it remains unfazed by emerging opposition coalitions and political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that it possesses the structural strength and numerical advantage to secure victory at the polls.
Speaking amid growing political activities and early campaign positioning, key figures within the ruling party said the APC has significantly consolidated its influence across strategic regions, particularly in the Northwest—widely regarded as a decisive voting bloc in Nigeria’s electoral landscape. According to party insiders, recent alignments, defections, and grassroots mobilization efforts have further strengthened its foothold in states considered critical to determining presidential outcomes.
The party’s confidence comes at a time when opposition elements, including factions within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other emerging alliances, are intensifying consultations aimed at unseating the ruling government. However, APC officials maintain that such moves pose no immediate threat, describing their internal cohesion and electoral machinery as formidable.
“We are not jittery. We have the numbers, and we understand the terrain,” a senior party chieftain said, emphasizing that the APC’s nationwide structure, combined with incumbency advantage, positions it strongly ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Political analysts note that the Northwest geopolitical zone—comprising states such as Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto, and Zamfara—has historically played a pivotal role in presidential elections due to its large voter population. The APC’s perceived dominance in the region could therefore prove decisive if sustained through 2027.
Meanwhile, the party is expected to intensify internal consultations and policy positioning in the coming months, as it seeks to solidify public support amid ongoing economic reforms and governance challenges under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While the opposition continues to strategize around coalition-building and voter sentiment, the APC’s leadership insists that its electoral calculations are grounded in data, field reports, and established political networks, reinforcing its claim that it remains firmly on course for victory in 2027.
